This is my entry in 's latest challenge - Last Man Standing.
I'm happy with it's outcome, yet it doesn't seem to be anything special. I just don't know what to do next to take it that step further.
I was trying to portray that of a lone soldier on an alien planet or perhaps even earth some time in the distant future. Here he his, recording his last words in the hope that some humans (or perhaps alien lifeform) may view his final words.
Required Stock:

Additional Stock: Mountains by Technical Brushes by & &
Clouds by ... OMG I can't remember!!! I've had this on my computer for a good 12 months in my maniped form (orange). If anyone recognises this cloud stock [link] please let me know so that I can give proper credit. I usually put the stocker's name when I save. I don't know why I didn't do this.

Technically speaking, you couldn't get more perfect. But I agree with you, it's lacking that certain oomph... Both the manbeast and I agree that it would look far better without the target in the middle.
OR, going the opposite direction, make the target smaller and that fluro green or red. I'd make the rest of the screen display yellow too.
Perhaps try and make the colours a little more punchy? Try a couple of layer overlays to deepen the colours and make use of the highlights. Good luck with the contest! I saw this one and thought it was interest. Hope to enter if I have time.
I think this one came out great...anything more added to it and it might be too much, you know? I might tweak some colors too, but the again, I'd be left driving myself NUTS *LOL*
I like the atmosphere of the piece, and the lonely feeling you convey, but yeah... it seems to need something. The only thing that come to mind of me, though, is that there should be some evidence of the destruction that made him the last man standing. Perhaps some smoking ruin (a building or vehicle, or something unrecognizable) in the distance just right of center... or even just a few smoking craters in the landscape...
Sorry I don't have anything better than that.
Good luck with the contest!

although I don't see why you would upload in png format for such a low quality image, without a print. a jpeg image at this resolution show no quality loss
its also too bad that your HUD vectors are such low quality completely defeating the purpose of vectors (able to be resized without any quality loss)
this would probably be better without the HUD for the sake of quality control

Eh? I'm sorry, you lost me with the first sentence LOL! I'm so not up to scratch on all the terms you've used. When I cut an image out I usually save it as a PNG. I don't know why. No doubt there is a better way to do it
What are HUD Vectors? I wasn't trying to do vectors? I'm confused LOL!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
